Sunday Igboho Evicts Fulanis From Ibarapa (video)

Sunday Igboho, a popular indigene of Igangan in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State, has evicted Fulani herdsmen from the town.

A video obtained from social media on Monday showed Igboho in company of youths charging through the town. The video narrator said the popular ‘warlord’ took the action after permission from the town’s monarch.

Herdsmen had reportedly killed a Germany-based medical doctor, who was on a visit to Nigeria to inspect his farm in the town. He was said to have been hacked to death by herdsmen for protesting their decision to bring their cattle to graze on his farm.

Igboho, who paid a condolence visit to the father of the deceased, lamented the excesses of the herdsmen and was said to have visited the head of the Fulani settlement in the community, telling him to caution his people.

However, four farmers were slain after his departure. According to reports, the herdsmen were angry that Igboho had demanded that they should be warned.

In an interview with BBC Yoruba last year, Igboho, who enjoys cult-like following among the rural folk in the Southwest, had said he could mobilise his followers to curb the excesses of herdsmen in Yorubaland if he was given a go-ahead by the traditional rulers.
