Shiite: Police, Army Captured ‘Beating, Stabbing’ Protesters In Abuja [VIDEO]

A viral video shows security forces, including the Nigerian army and police, attacking Shiites demonstrators in Abuja’s Gwarinpa neighborhood.

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), commonly known as Shiites, attacked the Gwarinpa district of the nation’s capital on Tuesday morning, clashing with security officers, according to the DAILY POST.

According to a statement released by the Federal Capital Territory Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adeh Josephine, about 57 people were arrested in connection with the protest violence.

However, a video circulating on social media shows security personnel attacking demonstrators, with some police officers and army officers seen abusing members of the IMN.

Omoyele Sowore, a socio-political activist who published the footage on his official Facebook page, said that six people were killed in the incident.

His post reads, “This is a video of another bloody attack on Shiites in Gwarimpa area of Nigeria’s Federal capital Abuja today by a detachment of the HQ Nigerian Army and Nigeria Police Force.

“This video captures gruesome attacks that involve beatings, stabbings with bayonets and at least some gunshots. Sic persons are killed today as President Muhammadu Buhari continues to order the extra judicial killing of innocent and defenceless citizens across Nigeria. #BuhariMustGo #RevolutionNow” [sic.]
