Secondary School VP Killed, Principal, Others Kidnapped By Bandits In Zamfara

Gunmen believed to be armed bandits kidnapped the Principal of Comprehensive Government Girls Secondary School in Moriki Hajiya Halima Na’Alain, Zamfara State, along with three other school staff members.

The principal was attacked along Moriki while coming from an inspection of her SS3 students who are writing their final year test at the Government Girls Arabic Secondary School (GGASS) Gusau, according to an insider source who told DAILY POST about the event.

The driver observed the bandits around Yanbita, a few kilometers from Moriki, and opted to turn around to avoid being attacked, according to the source.

After turning around, he chose to take a another route via a village named Sodingo when another group of bandits ambushed the school car, firing a gunshot that injured the Vice Principal, Malam Uwaisu, who died a few minutes later.

The government had ordered the closure of all government boarding schools pending the improvement of the situation, as a result of the ongoing attacks by armed bandits in various regions of Zamfara State.

When it came time for the NECO examinations, Unity Moriki SS3 pupils were among those who were told to report to the Government Girls Arabic Secondary School in Gusau for their final year exams.

When the incident occurred, the principal and other victims were returning from an inspection visit of the SS3 children.

As of the time this report was posted, the Zamfara State Police Command could not be reached for comment.
