Troops Kill 11 ISWAP Terrorists In Borno

In a fight with Nigerian military in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State on Friday, eleven members of the Islamic State for West African Province (ISWAP) were killed, while several more were injured.

The terrorists were apparently attempting to take control of the town before being thwarted by Nigerian military.

Soldiers are currently on the trail of the fleeing terrorists, a security source in Damboa told DAILY POST on Friday, with the goal of ensuring that they are well cleared from the surrounding area.

“I am inside Damboa, we have repelled that attack but some of our men are in pursuit of the fleeing terrorists. They came in large number with the aim of taking control of the town,” he said.

Brig.-Gen. Abdulwahab Eyitayo, the acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Nigerian Army’s 7 Division, also stated that a group of terrorists on ten gun trucks and one phantom MRAP attempted to attack the Nigerian Army’s Damboa Super Camp.

According to him, the army quickly repelled the attack and caused the terrorists to flee in disorder across Sandia village as they neared.

The GOC stated that all normalcy had been restored in the town, with residents going about their daily lives, while the Air Task Force continued to exploit the fleeing terrorists.
