JUST IN: Another Man Takes Over Better Edu’s Ministry Amid Her Ordeal

Following the ordeal of Betta Edu, the embattled Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, another official has taken over the Ministry.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, assumed control of the ministry, adhering to President Bola Tinubu’s directive following the suspension of Edu on Monday over alleged involvement in a N585 million fraud, accused of channeling public funds into private accounts.

Enitan officially took charge upon receiving a letter from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Monday night. Tinubu’s Special Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, conveyed the President’s order for Edu to “hand over to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.”

Ngelale emphasized that Edu is “further directed by the President to fully cooperate with the investigating authorities as they conduct their investigation.” Tinubu has also tasked a panel, headed by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, to conduct a comprehensive diagnostic on the financial architecture and framework of the social investment programs.

This is “In a determined bid to eliminate all institutional frailties for the exclusive benefit of disadvantaged households and win back lost public confidence in the initiative,” as stated by Ngelale in a released statement.
