Governor El-Rufai Imposes Curfew On Southern Kaduna As Terrorists Kill 23 Residents

The Kaduna State government, led by Nasir El-Rufai, has imposed a 24-hour curfew in the state’s Kaura and Jema’a Local Government Areas (LGAs).

This comes only hours after bandits stormed Kagoro Chiefdom in Kaura LGA, murdering at least 23 people and destroying a number of houses.

On Sunday, a considerable number of gunmen were believed to have arrived, shooting intermittently.

Following the incident, some enraged youths staged a protest, blocking roads and torching a bus.
It was also reported that one of the demonstrators was killed by a stray bullet.

In order to prevent fresh outbreaks of violence, the state administration enforced a 24-hour curfew on Kaura, Jama’a LGA.

Security services have complete ability to implement the curfew, according to Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.

“Following advice from security agencies, the Kaduna State government has declared a 24-hour curfew in Jema’a and Kaura local government areas with immediate effect,” he said.

“This is to assist the security agencies to stabilise the situation in the areas, save lives and property, and enable the restoration of law and order.”
