Real Madrid Star Player Tests Positive For COVID-19

Karim Benzema, a forward for Real Madrid, has tested positive for Covid-19, according to the Spanish club’s announcement on Friday.

The 33-year-old Frenchman has around 300 goals for Real Madrid since joining the club in 2009. He was also a member of the France team that competed in the recent Euro 2020 tournament.

The club issued a one-line statement saying, “Real Madrid announce that our player Karim Benzema has tested positive for Covid-19.”

Several Real Madrid players, including ex-captain Sergio Ramos, who has since left for Paris Saint-Germain, Raphael Varane, Nacho, Eden Hazard, and Dani Carjaval, were infected during the season recently finished.

Florentino Perez, the club’s president, and Zinedine Zidane, the club’s former coach, were also afflicted.

The news of Benzema’s contamination comes as incidences of the Delta type have increased dramatically in several countries, including Spain and France.
