JUST IN: Canada’s Province Bans Nigerians, Others For Two Years

British Columbia, a Canadian province, has implemented a two-year ban on admitting Nigerians and international students to tertiary institutions, as revealed by Federal Immigration Minister, Marc Miller.

Miller stated, “The measure aims to decrease new student visa issuance by 35 per cent for the current year” as part of efforts to address “exploitative practices” within the system.

Premier David Eby emphasized the need to address issues in the international education system, regardless of institution size, citing concerns about some institutions not meeting expectations.

In the first half of 2023, Nigerians received nearly 18,000 study permits in Canada, surpassing all other countries except India.
