Senate Screens Buhari’s Aide, Onochie, Others As INEC Commissioners

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, and five other nominations for INEC commissioners were screened by the Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday.

This comes eight months after President Buhari submitted the Senate a list of nominees for consideration.

Prof. Kunle Ajayi (Ekiti), Saidu Ahmad (Jigawa), Prof. Muhammad Kallah (Katsina), Dr. Baba Bila (North-East), and Prof Sani Adam are among the others on the list (North- Central).

Senator Kabiru Gaya, who chairs the Senate INEC panel, has a month to complete the screening and report back to the red chamber at plenary.
