In Rivers, police killed a group of gunmen who were attempting to attack a station in the Eleme Local Government Area.
The foiled attack resulted in the arrest of others. After intelligence identified the gang’s intention, operatives were dispatched.
After traveling from Oyigbo Local Government Area to their objective, the assailants were ambushed on the Eleme/Oyigbo route.
The probe is still ongoing, according to a source in the intelligence community. At the conclusion of the investigation, the suspects will be charged in court.
A comment from the Rivers command is expected. Officers have been instructed to only carry out official and approved tasks.
They have been prohibited from performing escort duties till further notice.
