PDP Crisis: Gov Wike Blasted By Amaechi’s Ally, Eze Over Failed Plot On Secondus

Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has advised Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike to quit destroying the state’s top sons and daughters with public funds.

Eze also urged Wike to leave Uche Secondus, the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, alone, claiming that governors who left the main opposition party did so due of Wike’s overbearing approach.

Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, praised the PDP Board of Trustees and governors for standing up to Wike and saving the party from his claimed draconian claws.

Gov. Nyesom Wike was dubbed “the actual Jonah” onboard the PDP ship by Eze, who cleared the party’s national leadership of any wrongdoing.

The APC chairman said in a statement made accessible to DAILY POST that some records needed to be put in right context and that Nigerians needed to be informed accordingly.

“Categorically, I wish to reiterate that I am neither a fan of Prince Uche Secondus nor a sympathetic observer of the present confused and pitiable state of the PDP, but as a concerned and patriotic Nigerian who has followed and participated in the politics of the party from the fons et origo, I am compelled to put some records straight, particularly as regarding the current rift between Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the umbrella party and also a Rivers man.”

Eze said it was regrettable to see the PDP continuing to be immersed in layers of burning crisis that threaten its existence and detract from its ability to perform the role of a responsible opposition to the ruling party and government at the center.

Eze stated that he is well aware that both Wike and Secondus’ fighting and political hustling are aimed at generating a Northern Presidential candidate for the PDP in the 2023 election.

The APC stalwart expressed his displeasure with Gov. Wike’s planned-forceful takeover of the party, noting that billions of Rivers money has already been wasted and more has been earmarked for his takeover bid, all to the detriment of Rivers people, whose common patrimony has earned the Governor another moniker, “Father Christmas.”

“Although Wike intends to remove Secondus from office by any means necessary, including using Rivers funds, the Governor has suddenly forgotten that when Secondus was Chairman of the Rivers State PDP, he was merely a Local Government Chairman and could never be more politically aware than the man we all know as Total Chair.

Eze claimed he has never been a fan of Secondus, but he couldn’t stand by and watch as Wike used risky tactics to delegitimize and demolish the PDP Chairman’s influence, accusing the Rivers governor of trying hard to guarantee that no one else stands politically in the state save him.

Those he cannot destroy he confines in Wike’s Cathedral, a collection of depleted political forces who have no job description other than to attend his festivities and shout for him. His efforts to delegitimize Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s political legacy and persona are well-documented, and his recent move to delegitimize Secondus is gaining traction.

Despite Wike’s attempts to ensure Secondus’ election as the opposition PDP’s National Chairman, Eze claimed it was undemocratic, egotistical, and deceitful for the Governor to seek Secondus’ removal without waiting for the party’s national convention.

Governor Wike, Eze said, should refrain from using the state’s limited resources to fight and decimate Rivers political leaders solely to court favor for the promotion of his own political fortune.

Speaking on the transfer of PDP Governors to the APC, Chief Eze advised the party’s Board of Trustees and other stakeholders to look into the fundamental causes of why the Governors and other prominent members of the party are defecting to the APC.

He challenged the PDP to shine brighter, stating that they must identify Wike as the source of the party’s difficulties, and that he has prompted more individuals to abandon the party before the end of 2021.

“The party can only know peace when Gov. Wike learns how to respect his colleagues and desist from handling issues pertaining to the party as personal, as no one man own the party.

“Wike should be very careful with Secondus otherwise he will end up not having any platform or party for his Rivers Governorship candidate in 2023. It’s unfortunate Rivers Treasury is being wasted to fight and remove our own son to take over PDP. ”

Meanwhile, Secondus had vowed never to resign as the National Chairman of the main opposition party.
