Spray Naira Note And Go To Jail — CBN To Nigerians

Concerned about the rate at which Nigerians’mutilate, deface, crush, and even spray and sell’ naira notes during special occasions like weddings and funerals, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a new warning that anyone discovered doing so will be jailed and imprisoned.

Aladeen Badajo, an Assistant Director in the Currency Operations Department, revealed this today at the start of the CBN’s two-day sensitization exhibition in Abeokuta, Ogun state. He cited the apex bank’s threat that “abuse of the currency will result in a punishment of not less than six months in prison or a fine of not less than N50,000, or both.”
