Owo Church Attack: Akeredolu Extends Mourning Period

The state’s mourning period has been extended till Wednesday, according to Akeredolu.

Mr Richard Olatunde, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, made the announcement in Akure.

The extension, according to Olatunde, came as a result of the Southwest Governors’ Forum’s decision to observe a three-day mourning period throughout all Southwest states from Monday to Wednesday.

Terrorists stormed St. Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa Street, Owo, during a church service on June 5, according to NEWS DIRECT.

Olatunde said, “Governor Akeredolu has also directed that all flags in the state must be flown at half-mast for the three days period.

“Recall that the governor had directed that all flags in the state be flown at half-mast for seven days from Monday to Sunday.

“Gov. Akeredolu appreciated the governors in the Southwest for the massive love and cooperation shown since the horrendous attack in Owo.”
