Osun LP guber candidate’s residence was attacked by gunmen: Police

Gunmen targeted Lasun Yusuf’s home, the Labour Party candidate for governor of the state on July 16, according to police in Osun.

The residence was targeted early on Monday, according to an unidentified number of gunmen, according to Yemisi Opalola, the police spokeswoman in Osun.

She claimed that although the attackers fired at Mr. Lasun’s building, they were unable to enter before being forced away by security personnel working for the candidate.

The attack was reported to the Ilobu Police Station, and Ms. Opalola said that a Divisional Police Officer was on the scene to assess the situation.

The LP candidate, a former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker, had told journalists that gunmen attacked his residence at about 1:00 a.m.

He said the attack lasted for 20 minutes and that his security details were able to repel the assailants without recording any casualty.

“At about 1:00 a.m., my house was attacked; the evidence is very prominent, and my building is riddled with bullets.

“In the last three governorship debates we have had, I have never attacked anybody on how to govern Osun.

“Unfortunately, this attack, to my surprise, lasted for about 20 minutes. We have evidence of those that actually carried out the attack.

“The police have been to my house to assess the situation and the evidence gathered has been handed over to the police,” he said.
