Oromoni: Lagos Yet To Decide On Reopening Of Dowen College
The Lagos State Government has yet to make a decision on reopening Dowen College in Lekki, which was closed following the murder of Sylvester Oromoni, 12, who was allegedly manhandled by fellow students.
The state government had agreed to reopen the school under certain conditions, according to a statement attributed to the Ministry of Education on Thursday night.
Mr Ganiu Lawal, Assistant Director, Ministry of Education, Public Affairs, issued a statement saying the media should wait for the government’s final conclusion on the topic.

Remember that the school was closed by the government in December as a result of the public outrage following the boy’s death.
However, on Wednesday, the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) released a report exonerating five students and the college’s management from any responsibility in Sylvester’s murder.
The deceased’s family, led by his father, Sylvester Oromoni, Snr, quickly condemned the story and urged President Muhammadu Buhari and others to guarantee that justice was served.
