EFCC Recovers N1 Billion From Permanent Secretary Working Directly With Works And Housing Minister, Fashola

The Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing has been named as the public official from whom the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered N1 billion.

The Minister in Charge of the Ministry is Babatunde Fashola.

In May, EFCC Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa told the Senate Committee on Finance that the agency had recovered almost N1 billion from a civil servant’s bank account.

“It is good for us to observe for now and wait for your committee to conclude its work so that whatever report you have and anyone that your committee decides, we are ready to take it up from there,” he had said.

“We have recovered over N1 billion sitting in the account of a civil servant last week.”

Bawa, on the other hand, declined to name the specific civil servant.

According to a source at the anti-graft agency who spoke to SaharaReporters on Thursday, the public official is a Permanent Secretary who works with Fashola.

“The civil servant the chairman was talking about is the Permanent Secretary working directly with Fashola,” the source said.
