Promote APC First Before Campaigning For Osinbajo – Masari Tells Support Group

Aminu Bello Masari, the governor of Katsina State, has encouraged the Progressive Consolidation Group (PCG), a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to focus on promoting the party’s accomplishments and achievements before selling its candidate, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The Katsina Governor likened the scenario to putting the cart before the horse, and advised the group to extol and herald the good deeds of the APC government above any candidacy, as the citizens would need the awareness to vote the party’s candidates again when the time comes.

Governor Masari made the remark while responding to the PCG’s delegation who paid him a courtesy visit at the state’s government house on Friday to seek his wise counsel in their bid to have the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, succeed and continue with the good legacy of President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023.

He urged the APC party stalwarts to go back to their locality and ensure that they have credible people that would do the right thing for the country at the helms of affairs.

“So, honestly, in whatever you do, I advise you to market first, what APC has done. Why APC should be elected again in 2023, then who benefits comes second, because, there has to be APC.

“APC has to be strong enough to win an election before we can have a successful candidate.

“What is before APC now is bringing out credible leaders that will do what is right for this country.

“As a party, all of us should go back to our locality and make sure that we have good people leading the party. If we have good people leading the party, the product from their leadership will always be good.

“At an appropriate time, I will reply you,” Governor Masari said.

The PCG group leader, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed, had said their membership cut across all sectors in the country, including serving and past Governors, current and former members of the National Assembly.

According to the group, Prof. Osinbajo would make a great leader and they are confident that he would fly the party’s flag very high and consolidate on President Buhari’s achievement.

Ahmed further said they are convinced that Osinbajo as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will calm nerves, foster unity and stability for the nation, considering his wealth of experience and capacity.

“Prof Yemi Osinbajo is very ably qualified to continue the policies and programmes of President Buhari, beyond 2023.

“This is our conviction and we firmly believe that collectively, all parts of the country should join us on this mission of fielding the best among us come 2023 for a greater Nigeria in line with the dreams of our founding fathers and the aspirations of our people

“It is in view of this development that we at the PCG feel convinced that an Osinbajo Presidency come 2023 will bring down tension, facilitate unity and stability as well as accelerate further progress in all sectors of the economy,” the coordinator said.
