Judge Breaks Silence After Alleged Draft Of His Judgment In Favour Wike-Backed Lawmakers Leaked

Justice D. U. Okorowo has broken his silence after an alleged draft of his judgment in favour of Nyesom Wike-backed lawmakers leaked.

A draft of an alleged judgment by the Judge at the Federal High Court Abuja had leaked earlier. According to the document, Justice Okorowo had given a ruling favouring the Wike-backed lawmakers of Rivers State House of Assembly who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and joined the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Recall that the Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt which was presided over by Justice D.M. Danagogo, had restrained factional Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, from interfering and disrupting the activities of the House of Assembly Speaker, Edison Ehie, from carrying out his legislative functions.

The court gave the order on Tuesday while ruling in a motion ex parte filed by the Rivers State House of Assembly and Edison Ehie as claimants/applicants in a suit marked PHC/3030/CS/2023, with Martin Amaewhule and Duule Maol as defendants.

However, if it scales through, the draft judgement that leaked on Sunday will stop the declaration of the seats of the 27 lawmakers as vacant and give them a backing to start the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalyi Fubara by Tuesday. Fubara has been having political clash with his predecessor and Minister of the FCT, Wike.

Speaking on the leaked judgment, Justice Okorowo debunked the allegation calling the document fake.

He told Sahara Reporters to “Verify your facts right; it is no true,”.

Meanwhile, the leaked judgment has been generating mixed reactions from members of the public amid controversy.
