MACBAN Hands Over 11 Bandits Among Its Members To Police In Taraba

Miyyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) leadership has handed over 11 alleged bandits to the police.

On Sunday, the accused were handed over to Abimbola Sokoya, the Taraba State police commissioner, at Maraban kunini.

This was done, according to the state chairman of MACBAN, Sahabi Tukur, in accordance to a promise made before the Emir of Muri, Alhaji Abbas Tafida, and the state Commissioner of Police that they would expose criminal elements among them.

He said members of the committee, picked from all of the state’s Fulani clans, will cooperate with police and other security officials in all of the state’s 16 local government areas to track down kidnappers and other criminals.

The Fulani were praised by the police commissioner for their determination to combat kidnapping and other crimes perpetrated by bad apples among them.

He also urged for Adamawa, Benue, and Taraba states to work together to fight kidnapping and other criminal activities.

He promised the Fulani that his command would back them up in their efforts to root out criminal elements among them.

The state chapter of Miyetti Allah promised to fish out the bad eggs among cattle herders less than two weeks after the Emir of Muri in Taraba State, Abbas Tafida, issued a 30-day ultimatum for them to evacuate forests in the state or be flushed out.

Sahabi Mahmud, the state chairman, stated that the state’s authorities had committed to eliminate the criminal elements among them.

“Those who repent would be documented, while those that refuse to repent and stop kidnapping and other crimes would equally be handed over to security agents to face the appropriate laws of the land.

“We have agreed not to harbour criminals, even if they are our biological children, and we have sworn to an oath to expose their sponsors no matter their standing in the society,” a communique released by Mahmud stated.
