Ex-Chelsea Midfielder, Michael Ballack Loses Son
Emilio Ballack, the son of former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack, has died.
Emilio, 18, was involved in an accident near the family’s vacation property in the early hours of Thursday morning, where firefighters attempted to rescue him at the Villas do Mar estate in Portugal, according to TVI24.
Emilio was killed when a quad-bike collided with him near the family’s vacation home.
The tragedy occurred in Troia, near Ballack’s home, who retired as a professional footballer in 2012.
The quad-bike was built with the intention of being utilized on public roadways.
Emilio is one of Ballack’s three children.
In 2008, Ballack married long-time girlfriend Simone Lambe, but the pair split four years later.
The former Germany international is a Premier League and FA Cup winner with Chelsea and is widely regarded as one of the best German players of all time.
