At a rally in Gusau, Matawalle was presented with the APC flag by Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe and head of the APC caretaker committee.
Nasir el-Rufai, Yahaya Bello, Abdullahi Ganduje, Babagana Zulum, and Simon Lalong — governors of Kaduna, Kogi, Kano, Borno, and Plateau, respectively — were present at the gathering alongside other APC stakeholders.
Abdulaziz Yari, the immediate past governor of Zamfara, was also present.
