MTN: Pressure On Toriola To React As Adebiyi Resigns After Alleged Sexual

Adekunle Adebiyi, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Sales and Distribution Officer, has resigned from the company following complaints of sexual harassment, intimidation, and victimization by certain female MTN employees.

After news of the occurrence hit the radio and became a significant talking topic in the media, Adebiyi left his position, according to JomogNews Nigeria.

The latest development comes after SaharaReporters published an exclusive report on Wednesday detailing how some female employees accused Adebiyi of sexual harassment, while also accusing MTN Nigeria’s Chief Executive Officer, Karl Toriola, of covering up atrocities against workers.

Female employees, who hid their identities and only identified themselves as ‘The Anonymous Whistle Blowers,’ accused Adebiyi of being a sexual predator who used his position within the company to sleep with young female employees, whom he frequently threatened with the sack if they did not give in to his demands, in a series of emails and documents sent to MTN Group’s headquarters in South Africa between April 2021 and February 2022.

The disgruntled employees also claimed that Adebiyi had been exploiting his position to place relatives and friends in critical positions at the telecommunications company, despite the fact that they lacked the necessary educational qualifications and expertise.

The whistle-blowers also accused the Chief Sales and Distribution Officer of inflating contracts, accepting payments, and fabricating false sales numbers in order to fool the company’s leadership and preserve his coveted position.

Adebiyi allegedly utilized revenues from his corrupt transactions with MTN Nigeria to buy a mansion in Manchester, United Kingdom, and also erected a multi-million-naira state-of-the-art school for his wife in Lagos, according to the whistle-blowers.

Employees claimed that despite his gross misbehavior and actions of corruption and sabotage against MTN Group, Adebiyi had Toriola’s and other top executives’ full support.

Adebiyi was accused of conspiring with General Manager, Northern Regional Operations, Amina Dambatta, and other senior officers of the company to defraud the company of huge sums through various corrupt strategies, according to another exposé released on Thursday by another group of workers and reported by this online medium.

Under the banner of ‘Anonymous Concerned Staff of Sales and Distribution Division,’ the aggrieved workers claimed that a cabal led by the aforementioned officers operating in various parts of the country had grossly violated workers’ rights by silencing their voices and victimizing them for daring to complain about systemic anomalies.

While the telecommunications business has yet to respond to the current wave of allegations leveled against senior executives, Adebiyi was compelled to leave on Thursday afternoon.

MTN Nigeria’s spokeswoman, Funsho Aina, did not respond to a text message seeking comment on the latest development.
