JUST IN: Court strikes out DSS application to detain Sowore for more days

An Abuja High Court has struck out DSS application to detain presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the February 2019 election, Mr. Omoyele Sowore for more days.

Mr Sowore’s lawyer, Femi Falana insisted that order of 45 days granted to DSS should be vacated since there is no renewal and therefore ask for the release of the respondent in line with section 35 of the constitution.

The Department of State Services said Sowore was arrested “for threatening public safety, peaceful co-existence and social harmony in the country.”

The security agency also confirmed that Sowore, who was to lead a group known as ‘Revolution Now’ on a protest slated for Monday, August 5, was in the its custody.
