Just In: Veteran Comic Actor Baba Suwe Buried In Lagos (Photos)

Babatunde Omidina, well known as Baba Suwe, a veteran comedy performer, was laid to rest today.

On Monday, the actor died in the Lagos neighborhood of Ikorodu.

The announcement of his death attracted reactions from prominent Nigerians, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo, who remarked, “Baba Suwe’s death had left a hole in the entertainment sector that would take some time to fill.” I pray that God may offer the late Babatunde Omidina eternal rest, as well as the family, coworkers, and associates the strength to face such an unrecoverable loss.”

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, reacted by urging the deceased’s children and family to take comfort in the way he used his God-given ability to positively touch the lives of others.

Omidina rose to prominence after appearing in Olaiya Igwe’s 1997 film Iru Esin. Arewa Okunrin, Owo laso oge, Obáj’obalo, kób gómnà, Ojabo Kofo, Teni Teni, and others are among his other films.

The actor was charged with cocaine trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in 2011. A Lagos High Court later determined that this was untrue and defamatory.
