Insecurity: Group Backs FG’s Shut Down Of Telecommunication Networks

Northern Youths Democratic Network, an organization, has backed the move to shut down communications networks in various North West local government regions.

The decision was aimed at curbing banditry and other social vices in the zone.

NEWS DIRECT recalls that the federal government had shut down telecommunication networks in Zamfara, Sokoto and Katsina states to contain banditry and kidnapping.

The President and Secretary of the group, Dauda Mathias and Yahaya Abdullahi, in a statement, believed that the ongoing military operation against insurgency and banditry in the North East and North West was the best way to end their activities in the country.

The statement observed that the shutdown of the telecommunications networks had prevented bandits from getting information on the movement of the military, thereby giving the military advantage over them.

It enjoined the affected residents to see the development as a good intention towards wiping out banditry and kidnapping.
