I Whole Heartedly Support Twitter Ban In Nigeria – Ned Nwoko

Billionaire Ned Nwoko has stated his support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration’s Twitter ban in Nigeria.

“On the current situation with Twitter in Nigeria, I totally endorse the position of the Federal Government,” Nwoko remarked at a June 12 lecture organized by the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abuja Council.

Nwoko believes that social media should be regulated and controlled in countries.

“In places where social media has a foothold, there should be some kind of oversight and regulation,” he said.

Nwoko emphasized that social media platforms must pay taxes to governments and create work for certain Nigerians for the over 100 million people who subscribe to their services, which is why he supports the Twitter ban in Nigeria.

The Buhari-led government in Nigeria has stopped Twitter indefinitely, citing the platform’s continued usage for actions that threaten Nigeria’s business existence.

The government also stated that in order to function in Nigeria, social media platforms must register and get licenses.
