Hanifa Abubakar: Court Adjourns Case To February 9

The murder of five-year-old Hanifa Abubakar has been delayed by the Kano State Magistrates’ Court until February 9, 2022.

The prosecution team, led by Barr. Aisha Mahmud, argued that the court lacked jurisdiction to continue the case and requested that the four suspects be held in prison for a week before being handed over to the state high court.

Last Wednesday, the primary suspect, Abdulrashid Tanko, was arraigned before the Magistrate’s Court in Gidan Murtala, Kano, together with three other accused.

They were charged with Hanifa’s murder, and her body was located in early January.

The issue sparked numerous debates and led to irate students setting fire to the school.
