Gunmen Storm Rivers Police Station, Release Detainees
On Tuesday, the Rivers State Police Command stated that a cell break occurred in its division in the Okrika Local Government Area.
Some shooters are claimed to have attacked the division and forced open the cell’s back door, from which all of the captives managed to flee.
The Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, has directed Deputy Commissioner in Charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Patrick Longe, to expedite the investigation into the cause of the cell break, according to a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, on Wednesday.
The CP ordered the DCP to ensure that all cops engaged in the incident were detained.
Longe is also expected to ensure the capture of all fugitives, who will be held accountable to the full extent of the law.
