Governor Lalong Spends N74 Million For COVID-19 Test, Medical Check-up, Summit In Dubai

Following an invitation from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) to attend an investment summit/meeting in Dubai, Plateau Governor Simon Lalong has signed off on funds worth N74 million.

A letter titled “Invitation To Participate At The UAE Missions/NGF Investment Meeting And The 11th Global Annual Investment Meeting” contains this information.

Danladi Abok Atu, the State’s Secretary to the Government, signed the letter.

“In light of the foregoing, the Governor is invited to consider and approve the release of the sum of Seventy-Three Million, Six Hundred and Eighty-Six Thousand, Three Hundred and Forty Naira (N73,686,340.00) only as logistics for the trip,” according to the letter.

Mr. Lalong, his wife, Regina Lalong, and their entourage will be able to take three trips with the cash granted in the letter. Between the 27th and the 31st, the group is scheduled to leave Nigeria for the summit in Dubai.

The plan includes three additional days for a medical check-up between April 1 and 3, after which the group will go to Atlanta, Georgia for a visit. The visit’s details were not revealed in the document.

Despite the fact that the Debt Management Office reported that Plateau owed N150.49 billion in the fourth quarter of 2021, this spending continues.

Given the N17 billion the Plateau administration claimed to have generated internally from January to September 2021, this is a substantial sum.
