Get Rewarded For Destroying Boko Haram, ISWAP Terrorists – COAS Charges Troops

Major General Farouk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, has told troops in the Nigerian Army that they will be awarded for bravery in anti-terrorist operations.

On Saturday, when he visited troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI in Damaturu, Yobe State, the Army Chief pledged a new award system for the troops.

Yahaya instructed the military to pursue and exterminate all Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants.

A statement dated 26th June 2021, signed and made available to Naija News by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu added that the COAS also praised the troops for victories recorded against the terrorists in previous operations but charged them not to relent until all the terrorists are eliminated.

The statement reads: “The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General Faruk Yahaya today Saturday 26 June 2021 charged troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI to destroy all Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists’ enclaves in their various locations.”

“The COAS made the statement while addressing troops of Sector 2 in Damaturu, Yobe State.”

“General Yahaya further commended the troops on the several successful operations conducted within Sector 2 Area of Responsibility, which he enumerated to include Operations Ayiso Tamunoma, Katana Jimlan, Fire Ball and Operation Tura Takaibango among others.”

“He enjoined the troops to use wealth of experience and lessons learnt from the series of operations to destroy the remnants of marauding terrorists within their various locations.”

“He assured them of improved welfare and a new reward system for troops who perform gallantly in any operation.”

“Earlier, the Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI Brigadier General Adamu Nura, while welcoming the Chief of Army Staff, briefed him on the operational engagements and challenges of the Sector.”

Among the dignitaries who accompanied the COAS were the Chief of Operations (Army) Major General Ibrahim Yusuf and the Theatre Commander Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Christopher Musa.

Meanwhile, the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), on Saturday vowed to resume the destruction of oil facilities in the region.

The militant group said it has ordered its foot soldiers to return to the creeks in preparation for resumed attacks which it claimed will continue until the government meets all their demands.

To lead the group in its mission, the Niger Delta Avengers in the statement titled: “WE ARE BACK WITH OPERATION HUMBLE,” revealed that they have appointed a female field commander to lead them in ‘battle’.

The statement identifies her as Field Commander Tu-ere aka Queen of the Creeks, noting that she has just been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General to prosecute the assignment.
