Ganduje warns Politicians against campaign posters on Eid praying grounds

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has cautioned candidates for political office from utilizing the Eid celebrations to launch campaigns or post posters, claiming that such behavior is a blatant breach of the electoral Act.

The Governor reaffirmed the prohibition on posting posters at Eid prayer locations and other events, such the customary Hawan Daushe at the Emir’s Palace.

Such behaviors are not only distractions but also in violation of the electoral Act, according to a statement from the governor Friday night that was signed by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba.

He said Sallah festivities are not political but solely religious and cultural gatherings aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage where people of different political leanings and foreign visitors attend.

The governor charged security agencies to take appropriate measures against any person who breaches the prevailing peace during festivities.
