Fresh EndSARS Protest: Insensitive And Self-Serving – Osun Protesters

Leading Endsars activists in Osun on Tuesday described the renewed Endsars protest as needless, insensitive and self-serving and accused the promoter of the fresh protest, one Emanuel Adebisi as impostor with ulterior motive.

Osun Endsars Activists, Comrade Ayo Ologun, Ige Ebenezer, Ismail Abdulazees alleged that Emanuel was instigating fresh protest as a result of his inability to make the list of Osun Judicial Panel of Enquiry constituted by the state government.

The activists condemned the action of Emmanuel while responding to his demands and fresh endsars protest in Osun State,  at a live Radio Programme  Frank Talk on Rave FM early Tuesday morning in Osogbo, monitored by our reporter.

Ayo Ologun, an endsars activist and a member of Osun Judicial Panel Enquiry said Emmanuel is making Osun endsars movement to look like his personal estate and he is just creating an impression to be the overall leader of endsars and anything that does not benefit him personally is anti endsars movement.

According to Ologun “ It must first be established that peaceful protest is a fundamental right of any Nigerian, but this fresh endsars protest in Osun call for suspicion, it is needless and unnecessary , it would have been better if it is call any other name but not endsars.”

He said Emanuel was never a sole leader of Endsars and personally orchestrated the protest for best reason known to him against the popular decision of majority of the clusters of endsars movement in Osun to suspend protest to allow the implementation of some of the demands and follow up the proceedings of judicial panel of enquiry.

Ologun said “Emmanuel is only filled with arrogance without recourse to reality, I challenged him to come out and tell the whole world what he has done to ensure the release of endsars protesters in correctional services. Some of us have been on it since, exploring all legal means to ensure the freedom of the detainees particularly Segun Oyewale”.

“I also listened to his call that Osun Judicial Panel of Enquiry should be disbanded, that is also laughable, when the judicial panel was constituted, all of us insisted that the panel should be expanded which was accepted by the government, I never lobbied for it, but it was resolved that the nominee must be someone with basic knowledge of law, power and procedures of such panel which was headed by a retired judge, a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria  and two professors as members.

“I challenged him that his grouse against the panel was that his personal interest was not taken care of,  the fact that an individual interest is not protected does  not make the panel invalid, I want to say that those in that panel are people of integrity who have served this nation excellently and I have no doubt as to the fairness and credibility of the panel.

“We have four representatives as youths and endsars activists at the panel which includes the State Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, President of National Association of Osun State Students, and Oluwasegun Idowu, a leading endsars activist in the state.

We are now at a preliminary stage, we have not concluded any matter, we are only entertaining witness and evidences, how can you now cast aspersion on the credibility of the panel because your personal interest was not accepted.”

Also, Ige Ouwasegun one of the endsars activist in Osun said Emmanuel was just been mischievous about his claim saying his rejection to be representing endsars movement at the judicial panel of enquiry necessitated his fresh protest to blackmail the government and endsars movement.

Ismaheel Abdulazees, State Chairman of the National Youth Council, while also speaking at the radio programme said  Emanuel is just on the street for personal interest and not reflecting the genuine purpose of the movement.

Emmanuel had on Monday led a protest to the State House of Assembly demanding  the disbandment of the judicial panel of enquiry claiming non-inclusion of EndSARS protesters in the panel.
