Flood: Osun Council Of Obas Sympathises With Victims

The recent flood disasters in Osun State, caused by persistent rains, have been met with considerable worry by the Osun State Council of Obas.

The traditional rulers expressed their dissatisfaction with such a natural tragedy, which resulted in the loss of lives and goods worth millions of naira.

In another development, traditional rulers urged people to continue to make COVID-19 ritual observance a part of their daily lives, whether at home or in public.

On behalf of the State Chairman of the Council, Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja the second, at the council meeting on Friday in Osogbo, the state capital, the Deputy Chairman of the Osun State Council of Obas, who is also the Timi of Ede land, spoke on behalf of the governor, Gboyega Oyetola, and all those who have been affected in one way or another by the unfortunate development of the ceaseless rai

Traditional authorities, who also highlighted that the majority of those affected by the massive losses were Osogbo citizens, saw it as a collective loss for the entire state of Osun’s people.

The city council asked citizens to avoid dumping trash into drainages, streams, rivers, and other bodies of water on a haphazard basis.

While sympathizing with the governor, the Council of Obas urged inhabitants to adopt the values of cleanliness and Godliness now that the rains have arrived.

“Continue to use your face masks, avoid milking around in a crowded environment and make the use of hand sanitisers a regular habit among other well spelt out rules by NCDC to fight the deadly coronavirus,” it said.
