Femi Adesina States Why Nigerians Should Be Thankful For Buhari Govt Despite Rising Insecurities

The Nigerian presidency claims that, as difficult as the country’s security situation is, citizens have reason to be thankful because things are much better under the Buhari administration.

Femi Adesina, President Muhammadu Buhari’s communications adviser, made the claim while speaking on a Channels TV show on Friday morning.

Mr Adesina said, “As challenging as security is, even now, we are still not where we were.”

“You would look at some areas of security, if you are true and dispassionate and you will have cause to thank God that things are better in this area.”

“There some areas of security where things are a lot better than they used to be. There are still some challenging areas. But there is assurance and hope that other areas will also be sorted out within the lifespan of this administration,” Mr Adesina added.

Mr Adesina’s declaration came less than 24 hours after around 70 pupils in Zamfara State were kidnapped. In July, bandits in Zamfara shot down a Nigerian Air Force plane on a surveillance mission.

Despite Mr Buhari’s promises to address the country’s insecurity, the situation has worsened under his watch as bandits and unknown gunmen continue to terrorize residents.

In Katsina, Kebbi, Niger, Kaduna, and Zamfara States, bandits have killed and abducted hundreds of residents in a series of coordinated operations, prompting school closures at various intervals.

Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina Jurisdiction has expressed his displeasure with the rise in banditry in his state. Later, he pushed citizens to form a defense force.

Mr Masari claimed that bandits control 10 of the 34 local governments in Mr Buhari’s home state of Katsina.
