WOmen Commend DEPOWA For Boosting Military’s Morale

The Mothers for United Nigeria, MUN, a women advocacy group, has commended Barr. (Mrs.) Vickie Anwuli Irabor, president, Defence and Police Officers Wife Association, DEPOWA, for her various initiatives aimed at boosting the morale of troops who have been fighting insurgency, kidnapping and banditry in many parts of Nigeria.
The group in a statement said the DEPOWA President and her team have continued to initiate programmes which will spur military personnel to continue to do more in the defence of their fatherland.
Signed by Hajia Salamatu Adebayo, Publicity Secretary of MUN, the statement noted that as President of DEPOWA, Mrs. Irabor has shown passion about improving the lives of every military family and making them better members of the society.
It reads:
“We commend the recent collaboration with the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) which empowered 325 wives of Military Officers in a short-term skill acquisition in order to broaden their knowledge and increase their sources of financial strength.
“No doubt, these initiatives will make our military personnel to do more to protect the country knowing fully well that the home front is being taken care of.”
MUN described the just concluded CDS Interactive Session with Retired Senior Military Officers as a step in the right direction. It commended the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. LEO Irabor, for the Initiative, saying it will further boost efforts at improving the security situation in the country.
“We want to commend the leadership of the Armed forces of Nigeria for taking time to listen to the views of Retired Senior Military Officers across the Geo-political zones. It is a step in the right direction.
“MUN appeals to Nigerians to give peace a chance and continue to support our Armed forces as they safeguard our country.”
