BREAKING: Senate Confirms Farouk Yahaya As Chief Of Army Staff

The Senate confirmed Major General Farouk Yahaya’s appointment as the next Chief of Army Staff on Tuesday.

The decision was made after the red chamber considered the report of its joint committee on defense and army, which was led by senators Aliyu Wamakko and Ali Ndume.

The Senate President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), had forwarded the President’s request for Yahaya’s confirmation to the committees on June 2.

The Defence Committee, which Wamakko chairs, has been tasked with screening the newly appointed Army Chief.
