Ex-bank Manager Who Stole N218m From Customer Set To Be In Prison For Years

Oliver Anidiobi, a former bank manager of Sterling Bank, was found guilty of stealing N219 million from a customer and was sentenced to many years in prison.

To obtain the monies, Oliver is claimed to have faked paperwork. The sentence was handed down on Tuesday, November 2nd, according to The Punch.

On his behalf, a 32-count accusation has been filed. The convicted was arraigned in 2019 for exploiting his position to persuade a microfinance bank to make a big deposit through him, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The individual utilized some of the funds to construct a five-story building and purchase multiple parcels of land in Port Harcourt, among other places. He was also claimed to have made an N65 million investment in a Ponzi scheme called “Let’s Partner with You.”

The court further ordered that all of his assets be evaluated so that they can be utilised, and that the money be returned to the swindled microfinance bank.
