According to sources familiar with the forthcoming layoffs, thousands of Ecobank employees will get letters notifying them of their dismissal by July 2, 2021.
According to our correspondent’s description, the situation is causing fear within the bank, with numerous employees unsure of their fates.
According to reports, at least 30% of the employees, mainly those from the collapsed Oceanic Bank, are on the verge of losing their employment.
“It is expected to affect more than 30% of the old personnel. Especially those who were released from the now-defunct Oceanic bank.
“To make matters worse, the impacted employees are unlikely to receive any benefits, and if they do, it will be minimal. According to sources, some impacted employees were paid as little as N200,000 (two thousand naira) in gratuity during the previous downsizing.
