A 5-storey building under construction in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital, fell, saving several people from death.
On Tuesday, June 7, about 2 p.m., a building at Ebonyi State University’s Presco campus in Ngbabor fell.
Chris Anyanwu, a spokesman for the State Police Command, verified the event during a press conference on Wednesday, June 8, saying “no casualty was recorded.”
According to a community member, the site’s laborers ran out as the structure began to vibrate and eventually fell.
Meanwhile, experts from the government have visited the collapsed structure to determine the cause of the tragedy.
Team of Police officers and Ebubeagu operatives were also on ground to cordon off the collapsed building to avoid any form of casualty.
People from the area were warned by government officials not to go closer to the remaining uncompleted building for their own safety.
