BREAKING: Supreme Court Affirms Gov Fintiri’s Victory, Dashes APC’s Hope

The Supreme Court has upheld the victory of Ahmadu Fintiri, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the Governor of Adamawa State.

In a recent judgment, a unanimous decision by the five-member panel dismissed the appeal brought by Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the previous governorship election.

Justice John Okoro, presiding over the panel, declared the REC’s (Resident Electoral Commissioner) announcement of Dahiru as the election winner as illegal and null. Emphasizing the authority vested in the Returning Officer by the Electoral Act to declare election results, Justice Okoro noted that any other individual assuming such a role acts unlawfully.

Additionally, the court held that the appellants (Dahiru and the APC) failed to present substantial evidence demonstrating non-compliance with relevant laws and proving that Dahiru won the election with the majority of lawful votes.
