CNN’s Amanpour Diagnosed With Ovarian Cancer

Christiane Amanpour, a CNN war correspondent, has revealed that she recently underwent “major surgery” for ovarian cancer and would endure months of chemotherapy treatment.

On Twitter, CNN’s Chief International Anchor said “Like millions of women around the world, I’ve been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

“I’ve had successful major surgery to remove it and am now undergoing several months of chemotherapy for the very best long term prognosis.”

Amanpour, who was born in the United Kingdom, previously hosted ABC’s “This Week.”

She first gained international recognition for her coverage of the 1991 Gulf War, which followed Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990.

Over the last two decades, she has interviewed numerous world leaders and newsmakers, as well as reporting from hotspots such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Rwanda, and the Balkans.
