Nigerian police officer caught on camera demanding bribe from a Spaniard

A yet to be identified police officer has been caught on camera demanding bribe on highway from a man who claimed to be a Spaniard.

Accoding to the video uploaded, Saturday, on Twitter by Abubakar Suleiman (@suleimana), the Spaniard could be head saying he rode all the way from Spain to Nigeria.

He use a body camera which enabled him to capture the happenings on the highway, hence, his face is not shown in the video.

The date and the location of the incident is unknown as of the time of writing this report.

“What did you bring for us?” The officer said as soon as the man told him he crossed into Nigeria.

Upon rejecting to offer the police bribe, the officer responded saying: “Are you telling me you don’t have anything for us?”

“No, I am sorry,” the man replied.

The police officer pushed further that the man ought to have changed his foreign currency to naira, so he could give him some money.
Not satisfied with the delay, the man told the officer he needed to continue his journey as he was only riding through Nigeria and wanted to get to Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, and South Africa.

But the officer said “Money, money, cash.”

“Okay, I have to go,” the man said at the end of the one minute, forty-seven seconds clip.

The police authority has, however, reacted to the video.

“This video was earlier intercepted via other SM platform and investigation already initiated, please,” a police Complaint Response Unit (@PoliceNG_CRU) said.
