Breaking: Gallant Super Eagles Beat Elephant of Cote d’Ivoire

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have boosted its credibility as one of the favourites to lift this year’s African Cup of Nations following a 1-0 win over host nation Ivory Coast.

The Super Eagles defeated Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 on Thursday evening, thanks to a penalty in the second half.

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen was fouled in the area by Ousmane Diomande.

Captain William Troost-Ekong stepped up to smash home the penalty.

Jose Peseiro’s men had many chances to kill off the game but failed to take any of them.

The Eagles have matched the firepower of the host country in the game today which was a contrasting performance from the one against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.

The win takes them up to second place with four points, level with Equatorial Guinea who hammered Guinea-Bissau 4-2 earlier in the day.
