BREAKING: Panic In Anambra As Rival Cult Groups Go On Killing Spree

Suspected rival cultists clashed in Awka, the Anambra State capital, leading to fears of multiple casualties.

The confrontation initially occurred near Dike Park, close to the Eke Awka Market, and later spread to the Obinagu village in Awka.

Although the exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed, reports indicate that several individuals lost their lives during the clash. Among the victims was reportedly a staff member of the Anambra State Judiciary.

Efforts to obtain information from the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, regarding the incident proved futile despite numerous attempts.

However, SP Ikenga issued a statement revealing that the state Police command intercepted a gunman in the Awada area of Onitsha and recovered an AK-47 Rifle. The suspect, carrying a bag, attempted to flee upon sighting the police but was pursued and apprehended.

Upon searching the bag, authorities discovered the AK-47 Rifle with serial number 25008266, which was not registered with the Anambra State command. During interrogation, the suspect confessed that the weapon was intended for use in a confrontation with a rival cult group.

The state Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, has commended the officers involved in the recovery and ordered an extensive investigation to apprehend all individuals involved in arms trafficking, including an alleged financier abroad who provided funds for the purchase.
