Troops Gun Down Notorious Terrorists Kingpin, His Men
The Nigerian Army has announced the successful neutralization of a notorious terrorist leader known as Maikusa, who held the position of second-in-command within the terrorist cell in Katsina state.
According to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, Maikusa and three other terrorists were gunned down during a counter-insurgency operation in Kurfi and Safana Local Government Areas of Katsina State on Monday, March 4, 2024.
Describing the operation, Nwachukwu stated, “The ferocious operation also resulted in the successful clearance of terrorists’ enclaves in these areas.”
He further explained that the troops encountered fierce resistance from the violent extremists but managed to overpower them with superior firepower, resulting in the neutralization of some terrorists while others fled.
Additionally, the statement highlighted the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, 65 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, a locally fabricated gun, and a camouflage uniform during the operation.
Nwachukwu emphasized the continuation of clearance operations, noting the destruction of terrorists’ camps in various villages across Kurfi and Safana LGAs.
