President Buhari In Security Council Meeting With Service Chiefs, Defense Officials

President Muhammadu Buhari is presently presiding over a national security council meeting with the service chiefs at the State House in Abuja.

According to the media aide to the president on new media Bashir Ahmad who made this disclosure via a tweet on Thursday, October 22, the meeting also has vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, in attendance.

Although the purpose of the meeting has not been disclosed as at the time of this report, there are insinuations that discussion may be lengthened down to the ongoing unrest across the country.

The meeting may also address the controversial shooting of EndSARS protesters in Lekki area of Lagos state by armed security operatives on Monday, October 19.

Apart from VP Osinbajo, the national security adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno, secretary to the government of the federation Boss Mustapha and chief of staff to the president Ambassador Ibrahim Gambari are also in attendance.

Ministers at the meeting include Bashir Magashi (defence), Mohammad Dingyadi (police affairs) and Geoffrey Onyeama (foreign affairs) and interior minister Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

Leading the service chiefs to the meeting is the chief of defence staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin and chief of army staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.

Other security chiefs at the meeting are the chief of naval staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas, the chief of air staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, inspector general of police, Mohammed Adamu, director-general of Department of State Services DSS), Yusuf Bichi,

The director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufa’i and the leadership of the directorate of military intelligence are also at the viral meeting.
