Cross River Police Station Attacked By Gunmen, AK-47 Rifle Snatched

The Ekori Police Station in the Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State was attacked by gunmen. The attack by the gunmen was confirmed by the Cross River State Police Command.

The attack took place on Saturday. The attack also led to the snatching of an AK-47 rifle which was carried by one of the policemen.

The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the command, Igiri Ewa, said investigation has begun into the attack on the command.

According to him, “Investigations are ongoing. We will issue a statement on the attack”.

This is not the first time the police would be attacked in Cross River. In February, two police checkpoints were attacked by gunmen. Four policemen were killed in Calabar during the attack and their rifles stolen.
