Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been granted permission to meet with his lawyers by the Department of State Security Service.

Kanu has been in the custody of the Nigerian Secret Police since he was detained and extradited from Kenya to Nigeria on Sunday to stand trial for skipping bail in 2017 on terrorism, treasonable felony, and illegal possession of arms allegations, among others.

From July 26-27, 2021, the IPOB leader will appear before the Abuja Federal High Court for the continuation of his trial.
