BREAKING: Missing Ijebu-Ode Community Chief Imam Found Dead Inside Car
Sheikh Mushafau Bakare, a prominent Islamic cleric and Chief Imam of the Atiba community in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, has been found dead after being kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
Bakare’s relatives and close associates had earlier raised the alarm that he had been kidnapped on Wednesday night.
His deceased body, on the other hand, was discovered inside his freshly purchased Toyota Highlander in the early hours of Thursday in the Ikangba region of Ogun State’s Odogbolu Local Government Area.
His lifeless body was recovered by police officials connected to the Obalende Divisional Police Office in Ijebu Ode, according to reports.
While search activities were ongoing, a source stated his phone lines continued to ring for hours.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, has not responded to an SMS message about the event.
According to Islamic customs, the priest will be laid to rest in the community on Thursday.
