BREAKING: Makinde Replaces Tambuwal As PDP Govs’ Forum Chair

Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has been elected as the next head of the PDP Governors’ Forum.

Makinde assumed the role of chairman shortly after Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, the previous one, resigned on Thursday.

At the present PDP National Executive Council Board meeting in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, the governor of the state of Oyo was elected as the new chairman.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that the NEC had given Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP National Chairman, a vote of confidence, putting an end to some disgruntled party members’ calls for Ayu’s resignation.

A total of 397 members of the NEC including past national chairmen of the party, the immediate past Vice President of the country, Namadi Sambo, the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, among others were accredited for the meeting.

All the 397 members of the NEC present at the meeting voted in support of Ayu to continue as the chairman of the party.
